BILD Academic Partnerships

BILD offers several partnership programs with leading accredited colleges and universities. Many of these educational programs are offered in a cohort model where you attend class with other BJC team members, gaining a unique understanding of BJC’s business as you learn and grow together. BILD works with BJC’s HR Hub to get the most from your annual benefit to reduce your out-of-pocket costs, and we pay for your courses in advance to eliminate the need to pay for your tuition to start your classes.

Combined Benefits for BJC Employees

There are many great benefits to participating in a BILD Academic Partnership program:

  • Minimal out-of-pocket costs.
  • Tuition discounts make your tuition reimbursement money go farther.
  • Tuition is paid directly to the college/university, eliminating the need for you to come up with funds immediately.
  • Attend class online or at a BJC facility.
  • Learn alongside other BJC employees.
  • There are several convenient options for BJC employees to earn their degree while still balancing their commitments to work and family. A variety of programs with a variety of delivery formats and timelines are offered to meet your diverse needs. Each program prepares you to continue your career in a challenging and changing profession.

Getting Started

To participate in the BILD Academic Partnership program, you will need to complete the following:

  • View the Tuition and Certification Assistance article on HR Hub.
  • Evaluate and research to make an informed decision about the program of your choosing
  • Apply to the school/program of your choosing
  • Ensure you’ve been accepted and are enrolled in the program of your choosing
    • Partner schools and BILD are in very close communication with one another regarding students starting a program, often times the school will notify BILD when you are ready to start
  • 60 Days to Day Class Starts: If you are using your BJC Tuition Benefit, complete the online Tuition Assistance application. Follow the "Application and Reimbursement" instructions on the Tuition and Certification Assistance article on HR Hub.
  • Within 60 Days After Class Ends: Submit your class grades via the HR Hub for payment approval.
 

What You Need to Know

  • Have open communication with the BILD academic partnership team, the HR Hub Tuition Team, and your college's academic advisor. Check your BJC email regularly as communication from BILD and HR Hub will be sent there.
  • Be familiar with applicable BJC policies, including 4.11 Tuition Assistance and 7.13 Employee Indebtedness.
  • You will use your tuition benefit to reimburse BJC upon the successful completion of each term. The tuition benefit and its policies are managed by the HR Hub Tuition Program Specialists. They are available to answer questions around your eligibility, benefit amounts and how to successfully complete an application. BILD and the HR Hub work closely so your benefit is applied accurately and timely.
    • All questions regarding the use of your BJC Tuition Benefit must be directed to the HR Hub.
  • Take ownership of out-of-pocket costs incurred for:
    • drop fees
    • tuition fees in excess of the tuition benefit
    • failure to complete/submit necessary paperwork
    • failed grades (Below “C” in undergraduate and “B” in graduate courses, "Incomplete" for training programs)
  • Several partners offer a school orientation held a few weeks before the first class starts. Participation is highly recommended as you will receive vital information from BILD, the HR Hub and the school that will contribute to your success as a student

Current BJC employees who are interested in transitioning to a Medical Assistant role at one of these hospitals first fulfill STLCC's admission requirements. STLCC student information is shared with BJC Human Resources for follow-up as a part of the application process. BJC then conducts a screening and interviewing process, and if selected you would officially transfer into a MA position. Your first few weeks of work are at STLCC in the classroom which is usually 5 days per week during the day. Once training is complete you are assigned to your regular hospital department and shift.

Upper Division

Students who have completed their first two years of education at a university or community college can gain a BSN with 5 terms of study with state-of-the-art sim labs, classrooms, and virtual reality as well as clinical rotations in diverse settings.

Accelerated

The Accelerated option offers a fast-paced, one-year program designed for students with bachelor's degrees in fields other than nursing, providing a quick transition to a BSN. Students engage in interprofessional simulations, fostering teamwork in patient care delivery. Our curriculum includes core nursing courses covering diverse patient populations as well as learning in our state-of-the-art simulation labs. Shift to practice after just 3 terms!

The Weekend/Evening Option is a flexible, part-time BSN program. Over 36 months, students complete nine terms, accommodating busy schedules while receiving a comprehensive nursing education.
